A tool that can be very useful to keep up what happens in areas that interest us is the RSS, which stands the system called Really Simple Syndication.
Although the name sounds rather complicated, the system is easy to use and allows you to have the usual reference sources available to a single click.
We are confident that the system will be more familiar than you think, because its characteristic symbol appears in many of the pages that circulate in the network. It is almost always an orange square in which appears a small sphere and two curve lines, like waves. retoNet shows its RSS in the top right, next to the words Post and Comments.
RSS is simply a free subscription to an information channel chosen. And the wonder is that you can choose all the channels you want and keeping them in the same reader. This means that instead of performing the same searches every day, you just have to log in and review the reader information that is accumulated in this kind of virtual storage.
Nothing is more practical!
To work with RSS you need to choose a reader. We work with Google Reader because it is hosted online and we can use it from any computer by entering its address.
If you think that you are going to consultate the information always in your personal computer, then you can install what is called an independent reader. NetNewsWire is a good option for Mac and SharpReader is great for Windows.
The only major difference between independent readers and those web-hosting as Google Reader and Blogline , is that the former allow you to read the information even without being connected to the Internet. You can download the information and read it at any time. This could be great advantage when you are traveling.
A reader worth looking into and that is a mixture of both is Pageflakes. Its system allows you to customize and make it as flexible and fun as you want it.
It´s your choice.
Once elected the reader, just find a channel that interests you -retoNet, for example-, click the RSS icon and copy the URL or the address in the navigation bar. In our case is feed: / / www.retonet.com/feed/
Then opens the reader selected, click “Add Subscription” and paste there the address you copied. That’s it! From this moment you shall receive each new issue we put on our website without having to open our portal everyday. The same applies to the rest of the pages you choose and whose address you keep in the reader.
What is your favorite RSS reader?
