Shooting videos on the iPhone 4

This video “Apple of My Eye”, by Michael Koerbel, was produced using the latest Apple’s smartphone.

Besides showing great creativity, the video shot on the iPhone 4 is proof that high tech multimedia tools are, literally, reaching our palms.

According with its producers, the video was shot and edited in 48 horas using iMovie in the smartphone itself.

The iPhone 4 can be used to shoot 720p high definition video with 30 fps (frames per second).

“Filmmaking has just been placed in the hands of anyone who owns an Apple iPhone 4”, says Hoptocopter Films. They also made a video on the iPhone 4. It is called “156 Turns” and you can see it here.

These two films show that low budget video production is becoming a real alternative for anyone interested in multimedia production but lacks the resources of big broadcasting companies.

To get an IPhone in the U.S., for instance, costs around US$600, with no contract, but competition from other companies selling smartphones makes a drop in prices more likely.

For a freelance journalist to have a mobile which is also a picture and video camera can be very attractive, considering high costs of a complete multimedia kit.
