Audio online: MP3 upload

Este post también está disponible en: Spanish

Technology allows journalists or bloggers, with a good piece of audio in their hands, to share it instantly on Internet.

There are three applications that make this easy: Audioboo, CloudSound and Audio Player, from WordPress.

In all three cases the most common audio format is MP3, which reduces the file size. While there are other higher quality formats such as WAV, MP3 files make faster downloads of sound.

To illustrate each service we recorded a brief audio about using audio on internet.

Audioboo

This site was created in 2009 in London and its service is the easiest way to record and share audio online. AudoBoo basic account is free and allows you to record sound directly from your computer or even from a cell phone.

You can also upload an audio file, edit and share it with others in a Audioboo page with your own profile. From there you can copy the code and simply paste it in your page or blog.

SoundCloud

SoundCloud is a service for posting and sharing music. The basic account is free and allows you to upload audio up to 120 minutes. Your player can be customized in seconds and comes equipped with buttons to distribute audio in social networks.

Audio Player WordPress

If your platform is WordPress, the best plugin to play audio in your blog is Audio Player. It is the favorite player of sites like Boagworld, a fantastic web design podcast.

If you do not use WordPress, you can use the standalone version to upload your site. The brilliant Mindy McAdams also offers some instructions for installation.

Quality audio production requires some investment. A good microphone, for example, makes a difference when it comes to producing podcasts. The production of a podcast deserves certainly a separate tutorial.
